I was half-way out of Connecticut, a bottle of sparkling grapefruit juice in one hand, a copy of Kabuki Dreams in the other, when I realized I was thinking way too lucidly. The second of three times that day. Alas.
Allow me to take a moment for a brief illustration.
It's kinda like in the Legend of Zelda with the mirrors in the Wind Temple... yea good times. Except it was my cocoon of self-absorbtion, not poes, that light was being shed on.
Yup, bad pun.
Anyway, I won't go into detail, but I did determine that I don't particularly like punch (the things you learn about yourself! jeesh.).
Interesting things about New Haven Connecticut:
1. It has an abundence of Thai restaurants. It was a tad eerie actually (even though Thai food is indeed yum)
2. There was this sexass toy store that sold antique toys as well as other hobby/collectible-type things. But it was closed :(
3. I bought David Mack comics, and I must say, they had quite the impressive selection.
4. Everybody's totally chill. Except this one guy... but that's like, what, .0001% of the population?
5. There is mad pricey parking.
6. Yale has the most amazing archetecture. The main library vaguely resembles something out of Harry Potter, and all of it is overall neat and Gothic. They also had a ridiculously extensive collection of rare manuscripts, which is sorta teh sex.
which brings us to...
I saw Harry Potter the other day, and for the most part I liked it. The cinematography was just peachy keen and I particularly liked how it started out with the desolate, rundown playground. It seemed to lack the distinct children's-movie-ness. Though Tom Felton could have done with some screen time *cough*.
I dunno, they really downplayed Cho and Harry's relationship and the drama that ensued, which is going to make parts in the sixth book a little tricky to work through.
Also, Sirius' death was at first well-down, then not well-done, then over-done. The silent screaming thing is a tinch cliche, but we got the point.
Oh and Voldie = ♥
I am really excited at this point for the 7th book. I mean, gosh, we're gonna get to find out the ending!!
Is Harry a Horcrux?
Does he die?
Does he defeat Voldie?
Are Harry and Draco secret lovers?
Will Hermione and Ron ever confess their passionate love?
Is Snape evil?
Will Dumbledore ever return? *cough*cop-out*cough*
So Many questions!
Alas, I feel the chance that I will actually read my summer reading is waning more by the second.
Sirus's death I thought could have been a lot better done. I think the reason Harry's screaming upsetted-ness seemed a bit melodramatic was because Sirius's actual death was so under-done. All he did was turn a rather pretty shade of green then float away. I wanted a thump! I want him to fall through the veil. He was hit by a curse because he was being sloppy and cocky, he wasn't hit by the AK.
I think they way they showed his death was too detached. Even though Harry Potter is a fantasy universe, the death was far too unrealistic to really have any impact. For example, Cedric Diggory's death was very well done. At least I thought so.
OK, so sorry for such a long comment, but Sirius' death has just been bothering me and I've been contemplating it. :P
